it was nice to see all you guys at those two shows in bordeaux and san sebastian, except for the lack of appreciation when I mentioned mikel arteta, I mean come on guys, he’s the prince of donestia and the best basque footballer ever! I also got some amazing pata negra at a lovely butchers in the old town and spent time at the chilleda museum, eduardo chilleda is my favourite artist so that was amazing...

I have set up my own record label! It is called navigators yard records. The first release will be “the night just keeps coming in” which as you know is a remix of the new dakota suite record. after that I will also release the second jazzy disc which was originally going to form the double but this will now be released seperately in 2009. we will then release a very strictly limited number of releases by artists we like such as machinefabriek etc and focus on instrumental cinematic projects.....have any suggestions as to what we should consider, email!

hello there, it’s been a while...for a time I wasn’t sure that I really wanted to make music anymore for public consumption. It’s been a hard couple of years for me mentally.
so you want to know what’s happening I guess?
well, since the last record I have been working on my collaboration with david darling pretty much non stop for the past two years. it’s been a total labour of love and at times I have been pretty obsessive about it, listening to minute sections for hours on end. I almost went crazy. however it’s finished and called “the end of trying”.
the end of trying was originally going to be a double CD with the second CD a loose jazzy affair, but that will come out separately later this year. expect to see the end of trying out on karaoke kalk records at the end of october. I was going to do it myself but just couldn’t get the energy together. all those who have pre-ordered will get a copy as per their order. you can still pre order...email me for details.
not happy to leave it there I have also started a remix project of “the end of trying”, not sure how this will be released but it already features completed remixes by machinefabriek, peter broderick loscil, the boats and greg haines. more coming soon. the mixes by machinefabriek and loscil are on myspace if you want to hear them.
I have asked ryūichi sakamoto as I am particularly in love with his soundtrack for tony takitani (that film is my favourite film ever and it’s based on a short story by haruki murakami who is one of my favourite authors) to do a remix but clearly he isn’t going to do it......
I have a couple of other instrumental projects in the works as well as working on the follow up to “waiting for the dawn to crawl through and take away your life”. to prove this point here is colin playing a new piece a few weeks ago that I recorded at his house.......
what else? well I am working on developing my own font, I am busy at work as usual with people who commit offences and I am reading a lot. well that is all for now....can I just say it’s been nice to get lots of supportive mail since I went away. it has been appreciated.
